Gold and Black was every where for this magnificent Bond themed evening, this was our 7th Ball in Martin’s name. The 224 guests who attended this year’s Gala Ball were able to witness the Fund present a cheque for £20,000 to Mr. Steve Dayman, the Chief Executive of Meningitis UK. Steve then went on to describe the progress of research to date and thanked everyone for their support.

THE EVENT RAISED OVER £7700

Our Compere, Pip Frederick, made sure the evening went according to plan and that every opportunity was taken to relieve our guests of more of their hard earned cash!  Dame Shirley Bassey then took centre stage; well, in fact, it was Carolyn Rowe a tribute singer. She entertained the audience with a medley of classic Bond movie songs.

The Monte Carlo Fun Casino did a roaring trade with the Roulette table proving irresistible for its glamour whilst the hardened gamblers amongst us were prepared to try our luck against the ‘House’ on the Blackjack and Stud Poker tables. Prizes were available for the top three winners with the most chips.

The live dance music was once again provided by City Connection who have played at all of Martin’s Gala Balls since 2001. The Dance floor was full from when they started to when they finished some time after 1pm – they were brilliant.

The Ball will be back again next year on the 22nd or 28th November 2008.

Once again thank you, to everyone who supported this brilliant evening.
